Thought Sounds 4: Mood Elevation is here!

TS4 includes 14+ hours of mood lifting music, and all 140 tracks were created for worry-free use with our software and brainwave entrainment. More details and samples from TS4 are at: http://www.transparentcorp.com/products/ts4/Thought Sounds 4

This latest entry in the Thought Sounds series is a unique one- instead of focusing on an activity (relaxation, studying, etc), it focuses on an emotion: happiness.

Music has a natural ability to make people happier, but some interesting research suggests that music can best impact happiness when the listener is focused on the music with the intention of improving their mood.

The concept of Thought Sounds takes this a step further. Not only do you get lengthily soundtracks composed specifically for mood elevation, but as with all Thought Sounds, we have taken great pains to create music that is suitable as a carrier for brainwave entrainment.

You can use these audio files with any brainwave entrainment protocol, not just mood elevation sessions. For example, you might use this music to lift your mood during a meditation session, or to induce feelings of well-being while working with a focus/concentration session.

For this music to work perfectly with added brainwave entrainment stimulation, it needs to live up to some very challenging standards for musical composition. Once again, Andrew Foust brought his depth of experience and talent as a film score composer to this project. Talking about the process of creating this volume, he said that “some pieces I actually treated like I was scoring a film and would compose to videos of uplifting subject matter. This technique was very useful for me.”

Andrew carefully selected every individual chord using in this music, using music theory to incorporate only the positive feeling tones. And numerous tricks from his compositional toolkit are used in this music to create the sensation of rising and moving upward.

The variety of styles, techniques and instruments Andrew used here, all skillfully executed and perfectly matched to the needs of a brainwave entrainment user, is incredible. The sample reel on the TS4 home page is a great introduction to what he accomplished with this collection- 14 hours of inspiring, uplifting, mood elevating music. Hope you’ll give it a listen-  enjoy!

Welcome Giovanni Santostasi, PhD as our new Director of Research

Giovanni brings considerable expertise and experience in neuroscience to the table for Transparent. He is a Research Fellow in the Department of Neurology at Northwestern University, and has also worked as an Associate Scientist in the world class neuroscience lab at the University of Wisconsin.

Giovanni has published research in the field of brainwave entrainment. In a recent study, he developed code to automatically detect EEG activity associated with sleep. This information was then used to adaptively stimulate subjects with auditory stimuli, with the goal of enhancing slow-wave activity to improve sleep quality.

One of his goals at Transparent will be to further advance and improve methods for conducting EEG-driven entrainment. We’re very excited to have such an accomplished scientist on board.

We’re now on Google Plus!

One more option to keep up with what’s happening at Transparent:

Thought Sounds 3: Relax – Now Available!

The latest result of our collaboration with the incredibly talented composer Andrew Foust is here! Thought Sounds 3: Relax is now available from our website. TS3 logo

Thought Sounds 3: Relax is a large volume of royalty-free soundtracks, meticulously crafted by Andrew with the goal of creating perfect audio companions for relaxation, meditation and hypnosis, while ensuring all of the soundtracks are flawlessly compatible with brainwave entrainment and our software.

For this volume, we’ve divided the 140 soundtracks into 3 categories: light relaxation, deep relaxation, and meditation. One way to think of these categories is that the light tracks might be preferred for an alpha session during a midday break, and the deep tracks could pair with a lower theta session for more detached relaxation. The meditative tracks are ideal for a diverse range of meditation sessions and practices, with exotic and inventive instrumentation to draw the listener further into any mental journey without distracting them.

You can start to hear this rich variety for yourself with the sample reel clip below.  If you’re familiar with Andrew’s work from Thought Sounds 2, then you’ll already be expecting to hear more truly remarkable compositions- and Andrew has absolutely delivered that here. In this clip, you’ll hear parts of 13 different tracks from Thought Sounds 3 in a little over 7 minutes, but the entire collection includes over 14 hours of music!

As with all of the music in our Thought Sounds collections, these tracks have been designed from the ground up for use with brainwave stimulation. That means every one of these compositions had to use minimal percussion, provide a consistent bed of sound without any breaks, and had to stay within frequency ranges best suited for the embedding of brainwave stimulating rhythms using our software.

And once again, we’ve worked hard to create over 14 hours of music that never strays from meeting all of the criteria described above. Our hope is that these huge and varied libraries of music will make it easy for anyone to find exactly the right companion piece for their goals, or the goals of their clients.

It’s a massive undertaking, but we’re continuing to develop these collections of music for specific session goals because we believe that the power of just the right soundtrack to significantly enhance a brainwave session is incredible. The innately soothing properties of thoughtfully composed music, combined with precisely configured brainwave stimulation driving one’s mind to a relaxed, meditative, or hypnotic state, is a uniquely powerful therapeutic tool.

We’re thrilled to have another incredible music collection available for everyone. Learn more about Thought Sounds 3 here: http://www.transparentcorp.com/products/ts3/ – Thanks very much for checking it out!

New Study Points to Significant Relationship Between Brainwave Entrainment and Heart Rate Variability

Over the past year, Dr. Elio Conte and a team of researchers from the University of Bari in Italy have been conducting a study using Neuro-Programmer 3. Their work ultimately led to the finding of a statistically significant relationship between alpha brain wave entrainment and enhanced heart rate variability. In September 2013, their work was accepted after peer review, and published in the World Journal of Neuroscience. Because of the tremendous importance of HRV, and the scarcity of known HRV interventions, this research is incredibly exciting.

The study focused on ten subjects, 4 males and 6 females, 28 – 62 years old, ascertained to be in healthy condition. For each subject, the research team first took HRV measurements during 5 minutes at rest, in complete quiet and with the patient in a comfortable position. Then, each subject listened to 20 minutes of alpha stimulation (at 8 – 10 Hz), generated by Neuro-Programmer 3.

The research team then compared the average total HRV experienced by subjects during the at rest state to that experienced during the alpha stimulation, and noted an increase for each subject in total variability, ranging from a 20% to a 68% improvement.

We’ve created a new page on our site to better explain the importance of HRV, and why this research could be so significant. We link to the full text of the study from that page as well. You can find all of that information at this link:

Interview with Adam on the Brain Matters radio show!

This week, our own Adam Hewett- co-founder of Transparent- was the featured guest on a radio program called Brain Matters, hosted by Dr. Robert Gottesman. Brain Matters airs weekly on the WEI Network, and during each episode, Dr. Gottesman “interviews and educates on all matters pertaining to health, functioning and the brain.”

Right near the start of the nearly 50 minute interview, Adam tells the story of his introduction to brainwave entrainment, and how that propelled him to over a decade of work in the field. From there, he and Dr. Gottesman discuss some of the basics of brainwave stimulation, how Adam’s software works, how the software is being used around the world, and some of the future plans and development goals for Transparent.

We’ve archived the interview on our own site, and you can listen to or download this entire episode of Brain Matters at this link.

Beta Brain Wave Stimulation – New 10 Minute Video Demo!

This entrainment demo includes 10 minutes of beta brain wave stimulation embedded in a broad selection of fantastic tracks from the Thought Sounds 2 collection, along with 10 minutes of completely original and custom animated effects that we produced just for this video.

For those curious about the technical details, “embedding” the stimulation right into the music files is possible because of the Frequency Band Selection feature in Mind WorkStation. As you’ve probably heard us mention before, that’s a unique method for brain wave stimulation that Transparent holds a patent for- you can learn more about how that works on this technical information page.

And just another reminder that you can subscribe directly to our YouTube channel to get an instant update in your YouTube feed when we post new videos!

Theta Brain Waves – Infographic Series Part 5 of 5

Theta brain waves (3-8hz) have been connected via extensive study to many different phenomena in the brain. Research on subjects as diverse as memory, emotion, neural plasticity, sleep, meditation and hypnosis have all drawn links to theta activity. A theta state is associated with stage 1 sleep- very light sleep from which subjects can easily be awoken.

A look at theta brings us to the end of our infographic series, and our wave by wave investigation of the tremendous depth of research conducted in this field over the past 80+ years. In the theta infographic, we’re visually breaking down some of the significant research on hypnotic induction, reduced anxiety, and zen meditation.

Brainwave A Day Launched

Our first app is now available in the Google Play store, and it’s called Brainwave a Day. It’s completely free, Android only for the time, and you can find it here:

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.transparent.brainwaveaday

Brainwave a Day

If you’re on a PC but logged into Google when you view that page, you can have the app sent directly to your phone/tablet by clicking the “Install” button.

To be honest, this app is pretty simple compared to our full software. We’re just getting started exploring mobile, and that is part of why we’re offering this app for free.

Our main goal in creating Brainwave a Day was to offer a simple and portable way for newcomers to be introduced to brainwave entrainment. We hope that it’ll allow them to easily explore the many benefits of BWE, while also seeing exactly what research and science it is based on.

We did add a cool option to this app that will interest Mind WorkStation owners- you’ll be able to download the protocol behind each day’s session in the app, in the form of a MWS file. Hopefully that will provide some new templates to use for your MWS sessions.

If you’d like to see more apps from us in the future, we’d really appreciate it if you share this app with others who may be interested, and help us make it a success in the Play store. If all goes well, this will only be the starting point in our adventures on mobile devices!
